Libra, Creature of Night, is the final boss of the Equilibrous Beast expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign. It’s one of the hardest Nightlords in the game, mainly due to its ability to inflict madness on the party and its tough-to-dodge AoE attacks.
This is a boss that requires patience, instead of all out attacking. It’s also a boss that is a lot more manageable if players take the time to prepare and enter the fight with the right team composition.

FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring Nightreign will add Duos Expeditions and DLC at a later date, allowing two people to play together.
This is an Elden Ring Nightreign boss that can take many attempts if you don’t know what you’re getting into. This guide will include tips on how to prepare, the best team composition, and a breakdown of the fight itself to give you a fighting chance against Libra.
Recommended Team Composition
While you should always pick a character you’re most comfortable with, the fight against Libra, Creature of Night can be significantly easier if you have the right team composition.
I recommend the following team: Ironeye, Wylder, and Recluse. These three work great together, each being able to gain an advantage in the fight.
- Ironeye: Ironeye is one of the best revivers in the game due to his ability to shoot downed allies from afar. This makes any boss fight much easier. He also has an Ultimate that is great at putting the boss in a stunned state, opening him up for attacks.
- Recluse: Since Madness is effective against Libra, Recluse can use Frenzy spells to deal high damage. Keep on the lookout for The Flame of Frenzy, Unendurable Frenzy, Frenzied Burst, or Howl of Shabiri incantation spells. Even if you don’t find an incantation that inflicts Madness, Recluse is still very useful for her healing capabilities.
- Wylder: I was going to choose Raider for this spot (who is still a good choice), but Wylder is quicker at attacking, making him the better option. He has a good amount of HP, deals high damage, and has an Ultimate ability that can easily stagger Libra.

Just how much does it differ from its original legacy?
Weaknesses and Preparation
Preparation is essential against any Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign. Each Nightlord has an element that is effective against it, and for Libra, Creature of Night, it is Madness.
As previously mentioned, Recluse is great at dealing high Madness damage considering she has an S in Faith. However, you’ll need to search far and wide to find a Frenzy incantation, considering she doesn’t start with one. Incantations are attached to Sacred Seals, which can be found in chests, castles, and forts.
Keep in mind that other teammates who aren’t playing as Recluse can also use Madness spells, they just won’t be as effective. So, in that case, I recommend pinging a Madness spell for Recluse if you manage to find one before she does.

Even though Libra is weak to Madness, this Nightlord also inflicts this element, causing Madness to build up. To counter this, keep on the lookout for yellow Boluses to increase your Madness resistance. Remember, all Boluses stack and last for the entire expedition, so make sure to consume as much as possible.
Of course, you want to try your hardest to reach a high level before entering Day 3. This can be done by killing the bosses at camps, castles, and those found in the field. Ideally, you want to reach at least level 12 before taking on Libra, Creature of Night.
I also highly recommend attaching Relics that help with Madness resistance. These Relics are rare, but make sure to double check if you have any before heading out on the expedition.
How to Beat Libra, Creature of Night
Before we discuss Libra’s moveset, we have to talk about the offers at the start of the fight. After entering the Nightlord arena to fight Libra, players can interact with the boss and choose from a list of offers.
These offers can dramatically change the fight depending on what you pick. For example, if you choose the option to reach a high level, you’ll instantly reach level 15, but every time you drink from your flask, you will lose a level.
On the other hand, if you accept the offer to receive a legendary weapon, then you’ll instantly drop 3 levels. Some choices even provide buffs to both you and Libra.
Honestly, I’d recommend not picking any offer and attacking Libra instead. The negatives of these offers outweigh the positives and can make you have a major disadvantage in the fight.
Libra, Creature of Night Attack Breakdown
To aid you in the showdown against Libra, Creature of Night, we have a compiled list of its moveset in the table below. This will give you a good idea of when these attacks come and what they look like.
Moveset | Description |
Staff Attack | Libra will swing its staff and then stab it on the ground, creating an AoE slam attack. |
Madness Rays | Libra will turn its fist yellow and then shoot off rays of sharp Madness crystals. |
Madness Circles | Libra will glow yellow and its fist will turn yellow. Frenzy circles will appear on the map that explode after a couple seconds. These explode quicker the farther you get into the fight. |
Teleportation | Libra will raise its staff and go invisible and then reappear at the location of one teammate. An explosion comes right after Libra reappears. |
Meditation | Libra will shield itself in a ball and go into a meditation stance. After exiting this stance, Libra will be stronger and more aggressive. |
Fist Slam Explosion | Libra will gain strength and jump around, slamming its fist on the ground in three different locations. Libra will then create a pool of Frenzy on the ground, which creates an explosion. |
Madness Rain | Libra will reach into the air and create Frenzy from the sky, that rains down on the player. It’s best to run away during this attack. |
Madness Arena | Libra will slam its staff into the ground, covering the entire arena in Frenzy and inflicting Madness. Using yellow Boluses on day 1 and 2 will help counter this. |

Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Complete the Oldest Gaol
This guide explains how to complete the Oldest Gaol in Elden Ring Nightreign.
First Phase
A good strategy here is to have Wylder stay close to Libra while Ironeye and Recluse attack from a safe distance. If a teammate is attacking head-on, not only will the health bar drain faster, but Libra also does fewer ranged attacks when someone is in its face. Instead, it will use physical attacks.
When Libra does do ranged attacks, though, they come in two different types. First off, yellow circles will appear on the ground and then explode after a brief second. Dodging to the side multiple times is a great way to avoid these. Make sure not to get locked into an attack animation by spamming attacks, or else you won’t be able to dodge.

A new patch for Elden Ring Nightreign has been released, one that makes the game easier for people braving its content in single-player mode.
The next ranged attack is where Libra shoots multiple rays of Frenzy toward you. These are easily dodged by either running or rolling to the side. This also opens up an opportunity for the other teammates who aren’t targeted here to deal some damage.
Remember, attack with Frenzy incantations as much as possible if you have them in your arsenal. Doing so will disrupt most of Libra’s attack patterns. The same goes for Phase 2.
Second Phase
The second phase consists of the attacks mentioned in Phase 1, but they hit harder and inflict more Madness build up. Additionally, Libra now has a move where it covers itself in a shield and goes into a meditation stance.
When Libra creates a shield and begins meditating, players need to destroy the yellow circle sigils that surround the boss. Destroying all of them before Libra is done meditating will stun the boss, opening up room for attack. Not destroying the sigils will result in Libra becoming stronger.
Another way to knock Libra out of meditation is to have one of your squad members use their Ultimate ability on the shield. More often than not, this will knock Libra down.
If you manage to disrupt the meditation animation, your entire team will manage to deal more damage and Libra won’t become stronger. This is the key to defeating Libra, Creature of the Night in Elden Ring Nightreign.
